Fort Portal City, Draws Out A Nostalgia For Tranquility

The People of Uganda are very hard working and that is an understatement. Well! A well worn cliche! The cities in Uganda can have many descriptions depending on administrative intentions or which side one finds means to put food to table or for other reasons.  The reason for this very short blog is to draw on the reader's artistic intelligence. As well, a moral for gratitude, self esteem and dignity affirmation.  Nature respects humans and she provides us gifts generously. Imagine if men dropped their precarious masculinity hegemony tendencies and instead strove to ensure a tranquility for women and the children? There is a moral Fort Portal tries to convey to all of us. The moral is written in short chapters whose subheadings are: Child Protection, Culture, Dignity Affirmation, Female Power, Fort Portal, Male Involvement, Self-esteem, Social Empowerment and Social Support. Our Story! This is part of our story highlighting 4 out of the many pillars at SAI: Pillar 1: Community Mobilisation & Engagement (CoME). This involves going to the grassroots and hold face to face meetings with the beneficiaries (who are subject matter experts). Pillar 2: Institutionalising Health Seeking Practices (IHSP). This is when both males and females are provided venues and dates to meet professional health workers who can provide them life improving quality services. Pillar 3:  Males As Champions for Health (MACH). Under MACH, identified couples plan to go with each other to attend clinics for medical examination, counselling, guidance or treatment. Pillar 4:  Community Health Awareness, Sensitisation & Education (CHASE). Toxic- A term derived from the Medieval term ‘toxic us’ meaning poisonous or imbued with poison. Masculinity- Having the qualities or appearance considered to be typical of men or connected with men. We are in a world that has consistently evolved to current day and we are now in a time and space where perhaps we all need to take time to pause and introspect deeply, perhaps even mediate and take a long hard look at our society to understand and maybe question more answers as opposed to just answering questions to truly dissect this topic and have a better comprehension, to position ourselves into creating a better tomorrow for our children.
