Our Story! This is part of our story highlighting 4 out of the many pillars at SAI: Pillar 1: Community Mobilisation & Engagement (CoME). This involves going to the grassroots and hold face to face meetings with the beneficiaries (who are subject matter experts). Pillar 2: Institutionalising Health Seeking Practices (IHSP). This is when both males and females are provided venues and dates to meet professional health workers who can provide them life improving quality services. Pillar 3:  Males As Champions for Health (MACH). Under MACH, identified couples plan to go with each other to attend clinics for medical examination, counselling, guidance or treatment. Lessons learned During Consultative Meeting with Personal Assistant to Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health (MoH), Uganda

If one were to ask us what we do at SAI, in a statement or two we would straight away say: “… we pride ourselves with providing catalytic opportunities for men to promote or uplift self-esteem and dignity affirmation toward themselves, their spouses and children.” This is a very loaded statement no doubt. But, let us break it down for you. We assume that males are the heads of households, companies, village councils and take on leadership roles in many cases before women or children are chosen. We also assume that males are responsible, duty-bearing and in the overall they care for those under them. They are a go-to in many cases. When one wants to find direction from a group of women, men and children. A man will answer and the rest will be silent. Strengthening Partnership with Caritas Kasanaensis: A call to promote Well Motherhood through Male Engagement: Caritas Kasanaensis has been instrumental in contributing to social and economic empowerment within Luweero Triangle Districts (Nakaseke, Luweero and Nakasongola). In doing this work, there are opportunities for linkage with other development actors. Situka Alliance Initiative (SAI) thought, it would be crucial to work with Caritas Kasanaensis as a joint force to promote people’s welfare within the region. We went ahead and contacted, Fr. Hillary Muheeza the Director Caritas Kasanaensis to explore ways of working together. He welcomed the effort and strategies SAI has put forth to ensure that families and communities live a more meaningful and enjoy a better quality life.
