Grace Masiko Lumonya - Finance and Administration Manager

Grace is a Seasoned Banker who has over the years relied on the power of interpersonal skills, creativity, learning and unlearning to innovate ways of making banking meaningful at private and public levels. This led to acquisition of multiple skills as a banking professional with expertise in Client relations & Sales management. Among the various skills are those dealing with People related leadership, Investment and financial management with a penchant for excellence. Grace enjoys a long career that goes back to starting with Barclays bank as a customer Service executive in 2011; moved on to serve in Operations with Direct Sales in 2013 and currently Sales Operations Officer - Retail. Before joining Barclays Bank of Uganda Limited, Grace worked with Compassion International as a Child Development Officer - Finance; also with East African Consulting Surveyors and Valuers as an Administrative officer. Grace is an Alumna at the Uganda Christian University, Mukono, has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass communication, specialising in Public Relations, and currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Financial Management at Uganda Management Institute, Kampala. Grace will bring this expertise to SAI, help leverage our mission with that of different international conventions on women and marginalized people in entrepreneurship.

Lessons learned During Consultative Meeting with Personal Assistant to Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health (MoH), Uganda

If one were to ask us what we do at SAI, in a statement or two we would straight away say: “… we pride ourselves with providing catalytic opportunities for men to promote or uplift self-esteem and dignity affirmation toward themselves, their spouses and children.” This is a very loaded statement no doubt. But, let us break it down for you. We assume that males are the heads of households, companies, village councils and take on leadership roles in many cases before women or children are chosen. We also assume that males are responsible, duty-bearing and in the overall they care for those under them. They are a go-to in many cases. What Situka Alliance Initiative (SAI) anticipates is a Uganda, where it is possible to provide opportunities for self-esteem and dignity affirmation (SEDA) to thrive.   These opportunities include turning men into agents of good and respectful living. In this short article we also present to you what constitutes the perceptions we identify as negative and those we feel are positive.  We go on to show the consequences of these negative and the positive perceptions to the relationships between men and women. We want to emphasise common conversations around which individuals can promote self-esteem, dignity affirmation and societies which are violent free.
